MTAM Custom Education & Consulting

Provide the massage therapy education that you've always wanted for your clinic or spa staff.

The MTAM tailors courses to your workplace needs. Learning together as a group is a great way to get your staff on the same wavelength. MTAM will provide the presenter, LCD projector, course manuals and handouts. The host clinic or spa provides the space with chairs and either a screen or blank wall for projection of the presentation. OR we can hold the course at the MTAM Education Centre.

Independent Contractor 101 (2 hours)

ABOUT THE COURSE:
Being a self-employed, independent contractor has many benefits and risks. On the positive side, you can claim business expenses to reduce your taxable income, you may be able to work at home and can have more freedom to control when and how you work.

However, there are also risks, as an independent contractor does not have the safety net that protects employees, and many RMTs and the clinics they work for do not follow the basic guidelines to ensure they form a work plan that is appropriate for CRA/taxes, legal needs and for the benefits of both the Contractor and the company who engages with them.

This course will discuss the pros, cons, and the common mistakes Contractors and Clinics make as they navigate the relationship.

Approved for 2 primary continuing education credits.

ABOUT THE COURSE:

Charting is a skill that takes some time to learn. Generally, what you are taught in school is only the tip of the iceberg. This course is designed to help you explore why you want better charts, what they can do for you, and how you can get more information written down in less time so you aren’t getting behind in your work. Let’s face it, we have to chart so why not make it a useful tool?

By the end of this session you will:

• Have learned charting skills as they pertain to a regulated healthcare profession

• Understand the proper handling, storage and destruction of charts

• Understand the pros and cons of electronic vs paper charting systems
