Dawna will present a recorded interview with Eric Purves RMT, MRSc from British Columbia where they will be discussing his article The Biopsychosocial Model: What it means to RMT’s. Joining Dawna for live discussion will be local physiotherapist, Iain Kemp PT, BKin who uses the Biopsychosocial model in his practice.

Massage Therapy is a mechanical intervention that addresses the physical manifestations of pain and dysfunction. It is equally important to consider the multidimensional components of health and their impact on your clients’ health and recovery.
This presentation will look at the five dimensions of health (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) and how one affects the other. Each of the domains will be explored as they relate to your client interaction. Questions and open discussion will be encouraged.

MTAM has worked with our CPR instructor, Tori Webber, to create a process that allows you to safely re-certify your Level C CPR while following appropriate physical distancing guidelines set out by the Province of Manitoba. 

It will include a combination of online delivery of the lecture with an in-person practical component. This will allow for the instructor to observe participants and allow the participant an opportunity to ask questions and receive direct feedback.

Mental Health First Aid - Basic Level

This course will be held over two days: February 24 & 25, 2021 


Mental Health First Aid – Basic is a 12-hour course in which participants will learn how to provide initial help to people who are showing signs of a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

The philosophy behind this training is that mental health crisis, such as suicidal and self-harming actions, may be avoided through early intervention.
If crisis do arise, then members of the public can take action that may reduce the harm that could result.

In the Basic course, the following mental health problems are covered:
·    Mood disorders
·    Anxiety disorders
·    Psychosis
·    Substance Use Disorder
 

MTAM Practicing/Non-Practicing/Retired/Student Members: $219 + GST
MTAM Associate Members: $239 + GST

Non-Members: $249 + GST

Fee includes course textbook and handouts.
