Assessment using the Selective Functional Movement Model
September 23, 2023  |  9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
6 Core Competency Credits

Join Jason Moniz for this one-day course that provides a comprehensive look at the musculo-skeletal system and how dysfunction in one area can lead to pain and/or dysfunction in another. This course not only focusing on the area of complaint, but rather looks at an injury as a whole-body approach.

This hands-on course will systematically help you categorize movement patterns into either a mobility/tissue extensibility problem or motor-control/strength problem. It will inform you when to “stop and treat the pain“ or possibly refer to other providers within the health care team.

Based on the response of the patient (presence of pain vs no pain) and the ability to perform required movements, the Joint-By-Joint Approach will help guide the therapist on how to treat the affected patient.

The benefit of the Joint-By-Joint approach is that it allows all prior courses a therapist may have attended or completed, to still be applied in assisting with the treatment of the problem.  For instance, if you have taken cupping, instrument-assisted workshops, myofascial techniques, joint mobilization courses or exercise rehabilitation workshops, the Joint-By-Joint approach encourages therapists to continue to apply these modalities based on what the assessment tells you!
