Let’s delve into the history, theory, research and ethics in Cupping Therapy so you will know how to best provide this treatment, but also how to explain it, how to recognize contraindications, and how to enhance overall client retention.

This Cupping course is unique in that we do not focus on any one ‘type’ of Cupping Therapy but rather focus on the research available and the types of treatments that can be provided using the various products in the marketplace. This approach provides you with the knowledge and skill on how to use a number of different types of cups to achieve the overall therapeutic outcome your clients are looking for.

You will be provided with information on how to treat common client complaints by using Cupping Therapy for the overall outcome of your client’ treatment plan. We will review the functional anatomy of the musculoskeletal system of the body and how to enhance circulation using Cupping Therapy and provide the techniques to use that are specific for the treatment of injuries and enhancing mobility. There is evidence that Cupping Therapy can influence the nervous system and has been shown to influence research subjects’ perception of pain…so join us and discover the ways that you can make a big difference in your clients’ wellness journey.

Money Monday: Budgeting on an Irregular Income
August 24, 2020  |  5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
1.5 Core Competency/Primary Credits

with Tim St. Vincent from the Credit Counselling Society

Irregular income can come in many different forms including self-employment, contracting, casual work/hours, fluctuating hours, commissions, tips, and even bonuses. One of the major challenges with irregular income is not being able to predict income which makes budgeting very difficult.

It is very easy to get caught in a cycle of relying on credit to supplement lean months which can lead into a downward spiral of credit and debt. It also requires discipline to not overspend when the income is high.

The good news is that there are 3 different systems that you can try to help you manage irregular income so that you feel as though you’re in control and still have money for fun things.  In the Irregular Income workshop/webinar, you will learn how to:

Determine which system will work for you;

  • Average your income and create a manageable household budget if you have been self-employed for over three years;
  • Create a holding account system so that you can weather the up’s and down’s of irregular income;
  • Create a good month budget and lean month budget;
  • Put money aside for taxes (if applicable);
  • Track your expenses so you know exactly where your money is going;
  • Plan and pay for irregular expenses like car maintenance, clothing and shoes, and pet bills even though your income fluctuates;
  • Create a paycheque plan to cover your fixed, cash/variable and savings expenses; and
  • Build your saving so that you can manage through the irregularity of your income.

5th Annual Research Symposiuim

KEYNOTE SPEAKER - PAMELA FITCH, M. Ad. Ed., RMT

The MTAM Research Symposium is an annual event that is organized by our very own Research committee!

The goal of the Symposium is to provide massage therapists, students, allied healthcare practitioners and the public an opportunity to learn about the latest innovations while connecting with colleagues and researchers.

Research is crucial to moving the profession forward. It inspires and educates  therapists on how to apply the latest science when working with clients.

Even though research about manual therapies can challenge tradition, it strengthens our profession, and provides guidance for massage therapists to be as effective as possible.
