This webinar provides learners with some of the foundational principles required for understanding and treating people experiencing pain. Learn important neurophysiology involved in the pain experience, clinical practice guidelines for pain management and 4 fundamental strategies you can use in your treatment to deliver higher value care and more meaningful outcomes for those who hurt. The focus is on how to use this information in the context of RMT clinical practice.

Instructor Bio
Eric Purves is the founder of the Centre for Evidence-Based Education. Like most massage therapists he began his career filling his “tool box” with as many modalities as possible, believing that the right modality was what was needed to help his clients, but it seemed that no matter how many techniques he learned his patients weren’t improving any faster. After years of frustration, and the realization that most patient’s primary goal was to experience less pain and get back to doing the things they love, he made the decision to delve into pain-based research and massage therapy, by enrolling in the Masters of Rehabilitative Science program at the University of British Columbia. Eric has been an RMT since 2006 and since 2016 he has dedicated his career to educating fellow massage and manual therapists in pain science and evidence-based practices. He created the Centre for Evidence-Based Education to empower massage therapists to improve patient outcomes by providing the best practices in evidence based care.
