Over the course of three days, you’ll learn strategies for improving your professional and personal well-being and resilience, gain practical insights to elevate your health and career, and recharge your energy at beautiful Elkhorn Resort in Riding Mountain National Park!

Day 1 - Sept 27th

8:00pm Campfire and evening Tai Chi with Deb: A session of chi kung to slow down and unwind. Move gently to release and relax before bed. Please bring a yoga mat.
 
Day 2 - Sept 28th

9:00am Kairos Blanket Exercise with Delvina Kejick
  •  The KAIROS Blanket Exercise is a powerful experiential teaching and learning tool designed to deepen understanding of the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization on Indigenous peoples in Canada and the world. The Exercise uses blankets to represent the land. It guides participants through key historical events, such as pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. This immersive experience helps participants understand the ongoing impacts of these events on Indigenous Peoples.

Day 3 - Sept 29th
7:45am Breakfast & Morning Tai chi with Deb - Wake up with Chi Kung and principles of Tai Chi to get our energy moving.
 
9:00am Resilience : Two Minutes Counts with Deborah Romeyn BPE, Ed. Cert., RMT
How can we ensure that our self-care skills improve and strengthen our resilience? This workshop will provide some science, some current thinking about self-care and resilience, and practical activities to create a repertoire of choice when planning for our own resilience and self-care.
 
Participants will:
- Explore the three-pillar model of self-care and how it relates to resilience
- Learn current theories about the value of resilience
- Create meaningful personal definitions of resilience
- Assess their own resilience and indicators of resilience
- Increase self-awareness of personal factors that may alter resilience and plan to build in activities to increase resilience
- Participate in a number of activities that promote self-care and resilience throughout the course of the day. Participants should dress for comfort.
- Activities will include movement-based activities, journalling, adult coloring, autogenics, acupressure, creativity and more. Be prepared to have some fun!
 
What to bring?
- Please bring art supplies of your choice…. crayons, felt pens, colored pencils, colored pens or anything you would like.
- Bring pen and paper or a small journal that you can write in
- Bring a yoga mat or a large towel to lie on.

Instructor Bio
Deborah Romeyn BPE, Ed. Cert. RMT, is a practicing massage therapist with a passion for wellness, creative work and massage therapy. Deborah’s work in Wellness Education began in WSD #1 ,creating workshops for teachers experiencing stress and burnout. From there, Deborah became a Mental Health First Aid instructor, and has been working with groups across the province for over a decade.
 
A sought after presenter, Deborah ensures that her workshops are as experiential as they are informative. Her essential question is always what could be easier? What could be better? How can we thrive in our daily lives?
 
 
Delvina Kejick (Motherheart) is an Indigenous Woman, mother, grandmother and more. She is Cree, coming from Fisher River Cree First Nations Reservation but living in Winnipeg, MB. Delvina is a 60's Scoop survivor with many stories and lived experience that are shared. Delvina is an educator, story teller, spiritual care provider, knowledge keeper/Elder, musician, and workshop facilitator. Her calling is to nurture, walk alongside, and love.

MTAM has secured a special rate of $215/night at Elkhorn during the retreat. Contact the Front Desk at 204-848-2802 to reserve your room under the group code MTAM26 no later than August 27, 2026. After this date, unused rooms will be released back into the front desk inventory.
 
Member and Non-member registrations include 1 1/2 days of professional development, 2 Breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner, 2 Tai Chi sessions & the evening campfire.
 
 
Guest registrations will open May 2: $135+GST. This includes 2 Breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner, 2 Tai Chi sessions & Campfire
 
Registration rates do not include accommodations, golf, or Resort activities (spa, bike rentals, etc.).
 
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made prior to one month before to the course start date will receive a full refund less a 25% administration fee. Cancellations made between one month and two-weeks before the course start date receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations from 2 weeks prior to the course start date. Extenuating circumstances will always be considered. Please note, last minute emergency cancellations are subject to a 25% administration fee.
