Professional and general liability (PGL) insurance is required for all practicing members.
MTAM membership offers a comprehensive, Canada-wide PGL insurance policy at one of the lowest rates in the industry. This policy will cover individual practitioners working across Canada, and for an additional fee, in the United States and other countries.

Your MTAM Professional and General Liability insurance is an occurrence-based policy, which covers losses that happen during the policy period regardless of when the claim is made. Your coverage will always be there for incidents that took place during the covered period. This includes:
Helps protect professional advice and service. Prevents individuals and companies from bearing the full cost of defending against a negligence claim made by a client, and damages awarded in such a civil suit. Coverage includes claims in which the client alleges your treatment caused them sickness, disease, or bodily injury.
Provides coverage to a business for bodily injury and property damage caused by the business’s operations, products, or injury that occurs on the business’s premises. This includes, but is not limited to, claims for slips and falls, allergic reactions, and damage caused to premises due to negligence.
This coverage is meant to help newer therapists as they start out and those who don’t have or need a lot of office contents in their individual practice. You also have the option to add Commercial General Liability (CGL) and additional Contents insurance to your coverage depending on your business and practice needs.
Contents insurance covers the replacement cost of the physical property and equipment you own. Coverage also includes the loss of income-producing ability when the loss or damage is caused by an insured peril such as fire, water damage, or explosion.
Through our insurer you also have access to unlimited free legal consultations. Simply provide your policy number when calling the legal hotline and you can speak with lawyer regarding your concern. Consultations can be for business or personal reasons.

- Contents coverage protection is only provided to the member’s contents. Damage to physical buildings is not covered.

- As your practice grows or changes, you may need additional contents insurance and Commercial Liability coverage. It is recommended that you speak with the insurance broker directly regarding updating coverage to meet your needs.
