This immersive anatomy lab offers students a unique, hands-on exploration of the human body with a focus on structures relevant to massage therapy and manual clinical practice. Participants will engage with instructors emphasizing the musculoskeletal system, organ relationships, and key neurological structures on preserved anatomical specimens.
The lab integrates three core learning experiences:
Musculoskeletal Palpation for Massage Practice
Exploration of Organ Systems and Neurological Structures
Live Dissection Demonstrations
Ideal for massage therapists, students in massage therapy, kinesiology, physical therapy, or anatomy-focused disciplines, this lab encourages respectful inquiry, hands-on engagement, and integrative thinking.
Instructor Bio
Leilanie is an accomplished educator specializing in the anatomical sciences at the University of Manitoba where she teaches various topics under the faculty of Medicine. With a wealth of experience as the dissection lead, she passionately brings hands on experience to her teaching methodologies. Alongside her academic pursuits, Leilanie is a dedicated massage therapist focusing on head, neck, and TMJ dysfunctions. Her commitment to teaching a deeper understanding of anatomy and promoting wellness through therapeutic and scientific practices defines her multifaceted career.
Participant Notes
Long pants and closed toed shoes must be worn, no headwear unless it's for religious purposes and hair must be tied back.
Gloves and aprons will be provided. You will need to sign a consent form before entering the lab.
Please bring: pen/paper, note taking purposes, and a face mask if you prefer.
Meet in the Brodie Centre near Starbucks 8:45am.
A minimum of 30 people are needed for this course to go forward. If the minimum is not reached you will receive a full refund.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made prior to one month before to the course start date will receive a full refund less a 25% administration fee. Cancellations made between one month and two-weeks before the course start date receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations from 2 weeks prior to the course start date. Extenuating circumstances will always be considered. Please note, last minute emergency cancellations are subject to a 25% administration fee.
